Summative End-of-Year Project: “Best Of” Photo Slideshow

Overview

For your summative end-of-year project, you will create a “Best Of” photo slideshow that highlights your growth, learning, and understanding of photography over the course of the semester. This project should showcase 15–20 of your strongest photographs and reflect both your technical skills and creative decision-making.

Project Requirements

  • Select 15–20 of your best photographs from this semester

  • Create your slideshow using Canva

  • The slideshow should demonstrate:

    • Variety – include different subjects, techniques, compositions, or themes

    • Unity – the images should feel cohesive as a collection

    • Sequencing – carefully consider the order of images to create a strong visual flow or narrative

  • You may go back and edit or retouch your photos to ensure the final project represents your highest level of skill and craftsmanship

  • Focus on presenting work that clearly shows growth, effort, and understanding of photography concepts learned this semester

Presentation Expectations

  • Clean, intentional layout

  • Consistent design choices (fonts, spacing, backgrounds, transitions)

  • Images should be properly sized and high quality

  • The slideshow should feel polished and professional

Submission Instructions

  • When finished, upload your Canva slideshow to the Finished Work folder titled “Best Of”

  • Due by the end of class on Wednesday

EDITING - FEB 2, 2026

You may do multiple edits on one photo for each section. Make sure you LABEL YOUR PHOTO with the corresponding number that matches the edits you used so I can see that you tried all the different techniques. You should have 5 edited shots (labeled 1-5) in a separate folder titled edited INSIDE your composition photos folder. If you finish early, please take 3 photos that work together and edit them with a similar style to create a a series  (to get extending marks). 1- First photo:  Crop image  Turn the photo black and white  Adjust Contrast 2- Second photo:  Adjusting Brightness /exposure Adjust color hue/ saturation. 3- Third photo (play with a variety and then pick the one you like the most):  Selective Colour Adjustments - WARM TONES Selective Colour Adjustments - COOL TONES  4- fourth photo:  Blur  Sharpen  Smudge  5- Fifth photo:  Dodge  Burn  Sponge
