NOV 13- STILL LIFE AS SELF PORTRAIT
Still Life as Self-Portrait Project Overview
Create a still life photo series that represents you — your personality, interests, and identity — using objects instead of a traditional portrait. The objects you choose should tell your story through symbolism and composition.
Requirements
Include at least 5 symbolic items in your still life that represent different parts of who you are. Choose items that are meaningful and intentional.
It is strongly recommended to use the SLR cameras.
Submit 6–8 final photos that show variety and experimentation.
Some photos might be taken in the home, arranged outside, or arranged at school using backdrops, materials, and lighting to enhance the still life.
The compositions should show variety in arrangement (stacked, scattered, grouped, etc.)
Camera angles (bird’s eye, close-up, worms view, etc)
Lighting or color (use light, shadow, or color to set mood)
Think about balance (symmetry/asymmetry, space, visual weight) and unity (the series feels connected and consistent)
Photos should be in focus, well-lit, and carefully composed and edited for best results.
Include a brief written reflection that explains
What your still life represents and what each object means to you.
