EVERYDAY ABSTRACTION - March 2

  This assignment is an exploration of everyday objects turned into interesting abstractions.  Create 15 MACRO photos total (always take more and use your best 15) Your photos should explore Texture, Line, Shape, Form, Value/Contrast/and or Colour.  Photos need to be clear and in focus, unless you are intentionally using soft focus.  You are encouraged to use the manual focus of the SLR cameras. Use a variety of composition techniques (rule of thirds, leading lines, contrast, creative angles, etc). Photos may be candid or staged, or a variety of both .  Edit photos to enhance desired effects.  Submit your photos in an organized digital slideshow in the finished work folder (mp4 video). Submit self assessment on completion.

LIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY - Feb 19

  Please see Power Points in the class folder for information on Light Triangle  DO: Light triangle assignment Watch: Lighting in Photography  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZg7g4C9U4o View Power Point on Light Photography Assignment (same PPT as above) in class folder   DO: Light Photography  This assignment if a technical exploration of light using the manual settings of the SLR cameras.  Create 10 photos total taken on a DSLR/SLR in Manual Mode . SLR photos must show control of the exposure triangle (ISO, shutter speed, aperture) and intentional Manual Focus. Your photos should explore lighting , including shadows and low light environments.  Photos should be a combination of Colour and Black and White (Monochrome setting)  Use a variety of composition techniques (rule of thirds, leading lines, contrast, creative angles). Submit your photos in an organized digital slideshow. Submit self assessment on completion.

ELEMENTS  Line x 2 Shape  x 2 Texture  x 2 Value  x 2 Colour  x 2 PRINCIPLES  Balance  x 2 Contrast x 2 Emphasis x 2 Movement x 2 Variety x 2 Please title the file what composition technique it is ex: Texture_1 Texture_2 Please save these in the Intro to Photo folder in the SUBFOLDER titled "Elements and Principles of Art" You should always save one copy in your personal folder and have one copy in the finished work folder.

CLASS WALK - FEB 4

Today we will go on a class walk. We will find photos that work for our Composition shoot OR the show the following:  Line Shape  Texture 

EDITING - FEB 2, 2026

You may do multiple edits on one photo for each section. Make sure you LABEL YOUR PHOTO with the corresponding number that matches the edits you used so I can see that you tried all the different techniques. You should have 5 edited shots (labeled 1-5) in a separate folder titled edited INSIDE your composition photos folder. If you finish early, please take 3 photos that work together and edit them with a similar style to create a a series  (to get extending marks). 1- First photo:  Crop image  Turn the photo black and white  Adjust Contrast 2- Second photo:  Adjusting Brightness /exposure Adjust color hue/ saturation. 3- Third photo (play with a variety and then pick the one you like the most):  Selective Colour Adjustments - WARM TONES Selective Colour Adjustments - COOL TONES  4- fourth photo:  Blur  Sharpen  Smudge  5- Fifth photo:  Dodge  Burn  Sponge
